Plasmodium vivax Genome Project
The Plasmodium vivax genome is comprised of 14 chromosomes with an estimated total size of 30 Mb. The Salvador I strain was selected for sequencing, a strain that was initially isolated from a human infection in El Salvador and has since been passaged through human and monkey subjects. The P. vivax genome was sequenced using a whole genome shotgun (WGS) strategy to a final sequencing depth of 10X. Please see the public data page for links to data in GenBank.
